This is Malda town,same like Bihar and Jharkhand. Very dusty place.
Has a mixed shopping cultural, all most all banks are available in this city. Plus brand shops like Titan EYE Plus is also present.
Nearby place is Farakka. Farakka is famous for NTPC and innumeries factories.
The amount of trucks and container carriages that ply here is uncountable.
Few points to keep in mind while driving from Bhubaneswar, Odisha to Malda, West Bengal :
Sorry to say people here have no civic sense, they enter & exit the high way - both pediatrician and vehicles as if walking in their backyard.
Same like toll plazas, there are number of local toll collection points. Locals dressed in military uniform jump on to the roads to stop the incoming vehicle and collect money.
The total distance from point A to B is 749km, out of this, the last 100km is through West State Highway SH7. Should try avoid it by any means, unmarked and marked speed breaker plus barricade. Plus Unmarked roads to different places, so always keep the GPS on.
And the rest 120 is through National highway for name only, huge huge traffic blocks of trucks up to 15km and lot of very very active local town intersections to NH.
The starting roads from Bhubaneswar excluding this last 220km, is almost perfect.
